Rhus L.

Genus with about 130 species distributed across tropical and subtropical areas of almost the entire world, especially in South America. There is a single species in North Africa, Rh. coriaria, from the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, although with a somewhat uncertain origin, because it has been cultivated since ancient times and is widely naturalised.
