Crataegus L.

Genus composed of about 380 species distributed mainly in temperate zones of the Holarctic region. In North Africa it is represented by 4 species, in the Mediterranean area. A fifth species [C. laevigata (Poir.) DC.] can be found cultivated in Algeria and Libya.
