POACEAE Barnhart

Large family of about 760 genera and 11,550 species, mostly herbaceous, rarely arborescent, shrubby or lianescent, spread in every corner of the planet. In North Africa it is represented by numerous genera, but only one of them, Arundo, is considered in this work due to its robust stems and plants reaching up to 4-5 (6) m in height, despite them not being trees nor shrubs.
