Evergreen subshrub, hermaphrodite, glabrous glaucous and 25-50 cm in height. Stems from decumbent to ascending, highly branched, with dark striations. Young branchlets greenish-white. Leaves bifoliolate, with stipules (1.5-2 × 0.5-1 mm, narrowly triangular, acute, membranous), petiole (1-1.8 cm) and leaflets (0.8-1.8 × 0.5-1.2 cm) flat. Flowers arranged in compound dichasial cymes; 1.1-1.4 cm in diameter at anthesis and pedicels 0.6-1.2 cm. Sepals 2-2.5 mm and petals 4-5 mm. Staminal scales deeply bilobed. Schizocarp up to 1 cm, obconic, glabrous and markedly 5-lobed, with styles 2-2.5 mm.

Distribution:
Northeastern Africa (from Egypt to Somalia) Socotra and Arabian Peninsula.
Conservation status:
A relatively common species and widely distributed. It is not considered threatened. Currently, it has not been assessed at a global level in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
