Leaves from oblanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, with 2-4 deep lobes, some leaves entire, acute to subacute. Inflorescence with variable number of flowers, but often multiflorous; axis with very short and applied setae, all of similar size (0.2-0.4 mm). Fruit dehiscent (silicle); with 2 parts or divisions; the lower part fertile, 3 times smaller than the upper or stylar part, with setose valves (sometimes almost glabrous) with only 3 clearly marked longitudinal veins; the upper (stylar) part sterile, ensiform, with an apex clearly topped by the stigma. It resembles <em>V. pseudocytisus<\/em>, but it differs in the upper part of the silicle, which is lanceolate, \u00b1 acute, with the same basal width as the lower part and 1.5 times longer.
