{"id":11410,"date":"2020-11-10T09:01:37","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T09:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.northafricatrees.org\/genus\/anogeissus-dc-wall-2\/"},"modified":"2026-06-10T10:20:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T10:20:35","slug":"anogeissus-dc-wall-2","status":"publish","type":"genus","link":"https:\/\/www.northafricatrees.org\/en\/genuses\/anogeissus-dc-wall-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Terminalia L."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This genus comprises approximately 300 species, primarily trees, native to tropical and subtropical regions.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In Africa, it is found only south of the Sahara.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In Mauritania, at the southern tip, only one species has been recorded: <strong>T. avicennioides<\/strong> Guill.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&amp; Perr.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Other species, such as <strong>T. brownii<\/strong> Fresen, extend north to central Sudan, while others, like <strong>T. macroptera<\/strong> Guill. &amp; Perr., have a wider distribution across the Sahel but are too far south for this project.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This study will focus on<\/span><\/span><\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northafricatrees.org\/en\/species\/anogeissus-leiocarpa\/\"><strong>T. leiocarpa\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">(DC.)
