The type species of the genus is the only one that is found in North Africa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northafricatrees.org\/en\/species\/euclea-racemosa-l-subsp-schimperi-a-dc-f-white\/\"><strong>E. racemosa<\/strong><\/a>. These are trees or small African trees, dioecious, generally evergreen, sclerophyllous, with entire coriaceous leaves.
